Ray Barrel: A drinking monkey in Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh has become a problem for wine merchants.
Alcohol-addicted monkeys have been known to break into liquor stores and run away with alcohol.
The monkeys even snatched wine bottles from people who bought them in these stores.
A video of monkeys drinking beer has gone viral on social media.
District GST officer Rajendra Pratap Singh said efforts to capture the monkey were underway with the help of the forest department.
A liquor store owner said the monkey would become aggressive if someone tried to stop it from taking a bottle.
A similar case was reported in the Nawabganj area on Lucknow-Kanpur Road, where a monkey was a “permanent customer” selling alcohol.
This monkey loves cold beer, and customers often buy him a bottle of beer.
Later, the monkey’s liver became enlarged, so he died.
