NDRF teams deployed in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Delhi where heavy rains and barrage releases have led to unprecedented flooding

New Delhi: A total of 58 National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) are deployed in the states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Delhi where heavy rains and barrage discharges have caused unprecedented flooding.
Of the 58 NDRF teams, 16 are deployed in Delhi, 11 each in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and 10 each in Punjab and Haryana, the NDRF said.
In view of the current situation, these 58 NDRF rescue teams have been deployed to the flood-stricken areas of these states and coordinated with the state governments to carry out rescue and disaster relief work.
The NDRF said its teams had so far rescued 1,423 people from troubled areas and evacuated 4,404 to safer places in Delhi.
In addition, NDRF teams regularly conduct rescue and evacuation operations in flood-prone areas in other states.
Overall, the NDRF has saved more than 2,039 precious lives and evacuated 13,965 people as well as several livestock during the current monsoon season, the NDRF said.
The force is also coordinating with the state administration and the police to provide medical assistance and distribute relief supplies to those in need.
NDRF’s control room at its headquarters in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating closely with relevant authorities and stakeholders.
