Rajouri/Jammu: An improvised explosive device exploded near the house of a victim of a suspected terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Dangri village on Monday, killing a child and injuring four others, officials said.
Suspected terrorists opened fire on three homes in the Rajuri area on Sunday night, killing four civilians and wounding six others, according to officials.
“The (Improvised Explosive Device) explosion occurred near the house where the first fire was fired. Five people were injured. One child died from his injuries and another was seriously injured,” said Jammu Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADGP) Mukesh Singh said.
The injured had been taken to hospital, he said, adding that another suspected improvised explosive device had been found.
Witnesses said the explosion happened between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. when several people were inside the house, including relatives of victims of Sunday’s attack.
“I strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack in Raguri. I assure the people that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family,” Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Twitter.
