New Delhi: India has recorded 173 new cases of coronavirus infection, while active cases have dropped to 2,670, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Monday.
Total number of Covid cases has been recorded at 4.46 crore (4,46,78,822) and death toll at 5,30,707 in last 24 hours with two fatalities – Kerala checks one, Uttarakhand Bang reported another – data updated at 8 a.m.
Active cases account for 0.01 percent of the total number of infections, while the national recovery rate has increased to 98.80 percent, according to the Ministry of Health website.
The number of active Covid cases fell by 36 in the 24 hours, the ministry said. The number of people who have recovered from the disease has increased to 4, 41, 45, 445, while the case fatality rate is 1.19%, it said.
The ministry said on its website that 2.201 billion doses of Covid vaccines have been administered in the country so far.
India’s COVID-19 count crossed the 2 million mark on 7 August 2020, 3 million on 23 August, 4 million on 5 September and 5 million on 16 September.
It crossed 6 million on September 28, 7 million on October 11, 8 million on October 29, 9 million on November 20, and 10 million on December 19, 2020 passed the 1 million mark.
