Hyderabad: CPI general secretary D Raja welcomed Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao into national politics, saying regional parties play a vital role in national politics, especially in the 2024 general election.during an interview S. Sandeep KumarRaja said the BJP government at the center was undermining the federal character of Indian states.
Q: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao initiated Bharat Rashtra Samithi. What is your opinion on this?
A: This is a positive development. In the past, regional parties played a vital role in national politics. For example, former prime minister Vice President Singh was earlier recognized as a regional leader. Any leader of any political party can be the leader of the country.
Q: Relationship between CPI and BRS
A: We support TRS in the Munugode polls in the state. At the national level, we welcome the Chief Minister’s “Ab ki baar, Kisan Sarkar” slogan. Regarding bundling, there is still time.
Q: The role of local parties in national politics, especially the 2024 election
A: Regional parties must take a tough stand against the BJP and its alliance in the centre. A united struggle must be waged to overthrow the BJP.
Q: The Bharatiya Janata Party is focusing more on the southern states, aiming to win 60 parliamentary constituencies.
A: One should not take it seriously. BJP claims many things but the reality is different. Discontent with the BJP is growing across the country, especially in the south. The BJP claimed Hyderabad as the gateway to the south, but the party was unable to achieve anything substantial. BJP misleads and tries to influence people.
Q: Discrimination against southern states by the BJP-led coalition government
A: This is unfortunate. The center discriminates against countries not ruled by the BJP. This is also happening in Telangana, Rajasthan and Delhi. The Tamil Nadu government has also publicly opposed the GST payment by the central government. All power in the states was usurped by the coalition government.
Q: The CPI has been calling for the abolition of the governor system
A: The BJP government at the center is trying to overthrow the state government, and the governor’s office is being used to advance the party’s political agenda. In Tamil Nadu, the governor acts above the elected state government. There was also unrest in the states of Kerala and Telangana. Political analysts question the importance of governors in the current era. Governors believe that all power is in their hands and that they can override the elected head of state government. We object to this.
