Hyderabad: A year after its global release, Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa: The Rise” continues to hold its own not only in India but also internationally.
The blockbuster, directed by Sukumar, opened in Russia last month and grossed more than 10 million rubles, or about 120 crore rupees.
The film, starring Allu Arjun, opened in Russia on Dec. 8, and after showings in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the film has managed to run on 774 screens, with no declines reported so far, according to producers.
“Pushpa: Rising,” in its third week of release, is on track to become Russia’s most popular Indian film of all time. The Russian satellite rights to the film will soon be sold for another Rs 2 crore, unit sources said.
Given the current trend, “Pushpa: The Rise” is expected to surpass all other Indian film series and hit a new high.
The highest-grossing Indian film dubbed in Russia so far is War, starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, which grossed around 15 million rubles or 170 crore rupees. Now, “Pushpa: The Rise” is poised to surpass that figure to become the most successful Russian-dubbed Indian film of all time, given the response it has been receiving.
