Hyderabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao slammed BJP’s opportunistic politics and said the BJP-led coalition government demanded repayment of Rs 150 crore from the state even though Telangana had built drying platforms to facilitate farmers.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has announced that until his last breath, he will not allow metering at agricultural pumping units. Instead, the BJP government is working against the interests of farmers, he said while addressing the Nandi Medaram conference in Peddapalli on Thursday.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi pledged not to privatize Singareni in Ramagundam but made a U-turn in New Delhi,” Harish Rao said, adding that it was a testimony to BJP’s opportunistic politics.
All sectors of the state are thriving under the leadership of the Chief Minister. He said BJP leaders became jittery as state governments issued recruitment notices.
The Finance Minister has also torn down the Congress Party and the Telugu Sam Party for their false focus on the farming community. He pointed out that in the past, the Congress government made farmers suffer a lot and many were forced to commit suicide in the state.
The finance minister downplayed Telugu Sam chief N Chandrababu Naidu’s claims on farmers’ welfare, reminding that the former chief minister had commented that farming was futile.
