Bangalore: Karnataka police cracked a hoax bomb threat against the prestigious National Academy of Learning (NAFL) school in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Police then picked up an underage boy from the school and handed him over to the custody of the state juvenile justice board.
Police detected the boy by his IP address and when questioned, the boy insisted he did it for fun, according to police. He told police he obtained the school’s official email ID through a Google search.
The atmosphere at the NAFL school campus run by the National Public Schools (NPS) organization was tense after a bomb threat was made in the Basaveshwara Nagar area of Bengaluru on Friday.
The bomb threat was sent through the school’s official email ID. The store had four gelatin sticks in stock that would explode during lunch, the email said.
School staff immediately notified the jurisdictional police. About 1,000 schoolchildren were sent out of classrooms and taken to safety. The development also sparked panic among parents and local residents.
Hundreds of parents rushed to the school, expressing concern about the developments and demanding that they be allowed into the school premises to see their children. Later, the children were sent away together.
The bomb disposal dog team searched the school building before declaring it a hoax threat.
