Hyderabad: With many families in the city planning to leave their homes for the Sankranti celebrations, District Three Police warned people not to fall victim to theft.
Thieves are always on the lookout for a good opportunity. Countless houses were locked during Sankranti and thieves found it easy to target many houses in the shortest possible time without any trouble, said an inspector working at the central crime station.
The temporary exodus of citizens has put additional pressure on the police, with the crime prevention team of the local police station and the police’s special investigation and investigation department on extra alert. “Before the festive season, all the teams check the old offenders and their current activities. Also, we keep a close eye on the released offenders,” said S Raghavendra, Inspector, Special Task Force (South), Hyderabad Commissioner.
The local police have formulated a crackdown plan and conducted intensive patrols in areas where floating populations live. “Our Blue Colt teams and patrols conduct day and night patrols to question suspicious individuals who are moving around and if necessary detain them and conduct background checks to verify their origins,” Jawaharnagar Inspector S Chandrasekhar said.
Police recommend security measures to minimize damage in the event of a burglary or theft. The main advice is to leave valuables in a bank locker. Other recommendations include not parking on the road, keeping lights and automatic door locks on at home, not updating your status on social media platforms, and suspending milk and newspaper deliveries during exits. It is highly recommended to install surveillance cameras in the house. The police asked the public to notify the local police before returning to their hometowns so that local patrols could watch them.
