Jaggi was speaking after the opening of the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) 21-day winter school for researchers and academicians.

She added that the syllabus will be restructured in a way that will help open up a wide range of opportunities in the agricultural sector.

“With this, education and research in agriculture and related fields will gain more opportunities in the country in the future,” she said, adding that initiatives such as setting up incubation centers will greatly support rural development.

She emphasized the importance of analytical tools in social science research, saying research would be incomplete without proper data analysis.

She added: “A solid understanding of modern statistical, econometric and time-series methods is necessary to make sound inferences in social science research.”

Sponsored by the Agricultural Education Department of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the Winter School aims to provide social science researchers with an opportunity to refresh their analytical skills and become more familiar with advanced analytical tools and software.

From Rajasthan, New Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Telangana, Bihar, Karna A total of 25 participants from the states of Taco, Tamil Nadu and Kerala will attend the winter school.

CMFRI Director Dr. A. Gopalakrishnan said the use of statistically valid judgments drawn from research projects was fundamental to the development of social science disciplines.
