New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi said India’s small-scale industries could compete with China if they could get support from the government.
Speaking at the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” rally in Punjab’s Ludhiana on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi said, “The prime minister’s ‘billionaire friend’ cannot compete with China, India small industries can do this by providing jobs to millions of the country’s youth”
Laughing at Narendra Modi’s government, he said: “The Kauravas of the 21st century are blinded by greed and arrogance, they have neither progressive vision nor progressive thinking.”
The MP further said that policies such as demonetisation and “wrong” GST by the BJP government had hurt Ludhiana. “Demonetization and GST are not policies but weapons to destroy small industries.”
“The focus of the central government is only two or three households. No one is paying attention to small scale industries. Big houses cannot provide jobs for the country, but small industries can. Centers are not doing anything for small scale industries. If small scale industries get help, then We can compete with China,” Rahul Gandhi asserted.
He accused the BJP of “spreading fear, hatred and violence in the country”. “Brother against brother, religion against religion, caste against caste,” he added.
Congress leaders met five groups during the Yatra in Punjab on Thursday – professional wrestlers, members of Roundtable NGOs working in education, RTI activists, ‘Ek Zaria’ NGOs working in medical sciences members, and intellectuals on Himalayan issues.
