Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his wife YS Bharati Reddy celebrated Sankranti at the Chief Minister’s residence here in a rustic and festive atmosphere on Saturday.
The Chief Minister sent Sankranti greetings to all Telugus around the world and wished them all the best.
Reflecting the affluence of Sankranti, the chief minister’s official residence is decorated with flowery arches and traditional Muggulu.
CM and his wife started the festivities by breaking the traditional coconut at the Ganesha Temple. Vedic authorities blessed them by reciting Vedic hymns and giving them new clothes.
Dressed in traditional attire, they walk across the venue, individually greeting guests and accepting their blessings in return. They light a traditional bonfire.
YSRCP leaders including Government Chief Whip Chevireddy Bhaskara Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister (Endowment) Kottu Satyanarayana, Housing Minister Jogi Ramesh, TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy, Congressman Nandigam Suresh and Government Whip Samineni Udayabhanu attended the meeting.
Earlier, the Chief Minister and his wife performed a Go-Puja (cow worship) ceremony at Goshala. On this occasion, they made offerings to the bhikkhus to Hari dasu and Sankranti Gangireddu.
They also inspected the village council, the government school, the village clinic and a replica of the Rythu Bharosa Kendram erected specifically on the premises.
They also watched a dance drama by Srinivasa Kalyanam, listened to the popular song Gobbi YelloaGobbi Yello by folk singer Kanakavva and Komma Uyyala by RRR famous singers Prakruti Redy and Harinka Narayan.
