he is not thin: Thousands of devotees visited the Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Inavolu on Saturday as part of Brahmostavam (jatara).
Besides offering turmeric to Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy, many of them also offer “Bonalu” in crocks filled with freshly harvested rice cooked in milk and jaggery. Some devotees make “Chinna Patnam” (Rangoli-like design) inside the temple in the presence of Oggu priests.
“Potharajus” are seen dancing rhythmically to the beat of drums, while women wear traditional dress and carry Bonam jars on their heads.
Pedda Patnam will be ready on the day of Sankranti (Sunday) and a decorated bullock cart called “Prabhalu” will be paraded on Sunday.
At the same time, Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Wardhannapet MLA Aroori Ramesh, Station Ghanpur MLA Thatikonda Rajaiah, Warangal Mayor Gundu Sudharani, Warangal MP Pasunuri Dayakar, Hanamkonda Zilla Parishad Chairman Sudhir Kumar, National Vikalangula Cooperative Chairman Dr Kethireddy Vasudeva Reddy and other distinguished guests visited the temple and Seek the blessing of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy.
