To prevent any unfortunate incidents while flying kites on railway tracks, GRP and RPF have launched an awareness program at the venue.
Hyderabad: Southern Central Railway (SCR) officials are advising members of the public not to fly kites near train stations or tracks where live overhead wires could cause harm to their lives.
To prevent any unfortunate incidents while kites are being flown on the railway tracks, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have launched an awareness program at the venue.
“Children and teenagers tend to fly kites from nearby residential areas and in some places run onto the rails to fly the kites, which can be fatal,” an SCR official added, adding that the situation could be fatal if they clip another kite and give chase. It’s going to get worse getting it into their hands.
Rail officials have warned of the dangers of flying kites near the tracks and of retrieving them from overhead equipment (OHE) cables that provide about 25,000 volts of electricity. “Children risked being run over by passing trains or electrocuted while trying to pull manjas hanging from cables,” another RPF official said.
SCR officials asked parents to keep an eye on their children and prevent them from flying kites near the tracks.
