Srinagar: On Sunday, the Army paid a rich tribute to the late Nb. son. Parshotam Kumar, Late Hav. Amrik Singh, the late Amit Sharma, died on January 10 while on an operational duty at J&K’s Machhal unit in Kupwara.
In a solemn ceremony at the Chinar War Memorial, BB Cantt, Lieutenant General ADS Aujla, Commander of the Chinar Regiment and all ranks paid tribute to the brave soldiers on behalf of the proud nation. The narrow track has cracked, causing the three brave men to slide into a deep ravine. A search and rescue team recovered the remains of the three brave men on the morning of January 11, 2023,” the Army said.
“Due to adverse weather conditions, the remains could not be moved earlier and were airlifted in the late afternoon of January 14, 2023.”
The late Nb Sub Parshotam Kumar, aged 43, joined the army in 1996. He belongs to Majua Uttami Village, Jammu District and is survived by his wife and two children.
The late Hav Amrik Singh, 39 years old, joined the army in 2001. He belongs to Mandwara village in Una district of Himachal Pradesh and is survived by his wife and one son.
The late Amit Sharma was 23 years old and joined the army in 2019. He belongs to Talasi Khurd village, Hamirpur district, Himachal Pradesh, and is survived by his mother.
“The remains of the late Nb Sub Parshotam Kumar, the late Hav Amrik Singh, the late Amit Sharma will be returned to their homeland where they will be laid to rest with full military honors. At this time of grief, the Army and The families of the victims stand together and remain committed to preserving their dignity and well-being,” the Army said.
