Sri Lanka looks forward to partnerships beyond that. However, Siraj did not rest the visitors. After his senior pace partner Mohammad Shami sent Charith Asalanka back for a run, the 28-year-old pacer continued his strong play, dismissing Nuwanidu Fernando (19), the only SL so far Double-digit scorer-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva (1).
SL was 39/5 with Chamika Karunaratne (1*) joined by skipper Dasun Shanaka (4*) at the end of the first mandatory overs. Siraj can’t make a mistake because he only used one Karunaratne. The alarm was sounding wildly for the Asian champions, who were 39/6.
SL managed to break through 50 with a score of 14.2. But it was Kuldeep Yadav who gave Indian Spins their first success in the tournament, beating skipper Shanaka with 11 off 26 balls.
