Nizamabad: Another collector, Chandrasekhar, urges people to treat animals with compassion and respect. Chandrasekhar, speaking on Monday after releasing the leaflet on the occasion of the two-week program for animal protection, said such programs help raise awareness about animal protection among people, especially children. He said humans should learn to coexist with animals. “It is our moral duty to see animals treated humanely and compassionately,” he said.
He asked officials to organize essay-writing and debate competitions for students on animal welfare. Animal Welfare Fortnight is celebrated annually from January 14 to 30 to raise awareness in civil society to treat all animal life with respect, kindness and compassion, he said. He informed that during the two weeks, various activities will be organized at departmental level to instil love and kindness towards animals.
Additional collectors Chitra Mishra, Livestock Ministry co-director Jagannathachari and other senior officials were present.
