The school year will begin on the 100+ acre Bachupally campus
Hyderabad: Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University will start operations from next academic year at its new 100-acre campus in Bachupally. To this end, the university has embarked on the transfer process, moving the library from its current Nampally campus. The transition process will pick up pace after exams, scheduled for May 1-10, will conclude on April 30.
“The university will be moving to a new campus in Bachupally during the summer break, where the new academic year will begin. The inauguration of the new campus will take place in June.”
The university will offer all PG and PhD programs at its new campus, while the current campus in Nampally will be used to deliver postgraduate diplomas, certificates and other evening courses. The government will continue to lease the auditorium at the South Paley campus.
The University was established by legislation in 1985 and in 2002 acquired 100 acres of government land in Bachupally. However, the development of the campus was delayed due to large rocks and boulders in the allotted land. Although the university administration planned for the transfer of the last Ugadi to the new campus, due to some outstanding work, this plan could not be realized.
On this land so far, the university administration has established administrative buildings, a library, the Academy of Fine Arts, and male and female dormitories on 30 acres of land. The male dormitory can accommodate more than 500 students, and the female dormitory can accommodate more than 250 students.
Telugu University has been using Osmaniya University’s (OU) Triveni Hotel for accommodation for its students and will be returning it to OU. To help employees commute to the new campus, the university administration decided to provide transit facilities for a year.
