New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge hit back on Wednesday accusing him of trying to “image change”, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the opposition party for saying all “corrupt elements” had joined forces.
In a series of tweets, he said, “Whose is the Rs 2000 crore of Adani shell company? Are Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, Vijay Mallya, Jatin Mehta part of your campaign ‘Nation Without Corruption’? Yes, you are the convener of this alliance?”
“By presenting yourself as an ‘anti-crusader,’ don’t try to change the image,” he added.
In another tweet, he questioned why the Karnataka government called it a “40% commission government”?
“Why are you part of the corrupt Meghalaya government?
Haven’t BJP leaders been involved in Sanjeevini scam in Rajasthan, Poshan scam in Madhya Pradesh, Nan scam in Chhattisgarh?
The veteran Congress leader accused the prime minister of “abuse” of the investigative agency targeting opposition leaders, saying that while the Enforcement Bureau had let 95 per cent of opposition leaders go, the BJP leader was cleared. .
“You say you have a 56-inch chest and prove it by setting up a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to resolve the Adani issue.”
It is worth noting that on Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress and other like-minded parties, saying that some political establishments have started a “Bhrashtachari Bachao Abhiyan” in which all corrupt elements join forces.
Speaking after the inauguration of the BJP Residence and Auditorium at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, Modi said, “All the corrupt faces of India are now gathered on one stage. It is only natural for Indian forces to gather together.”
