San Francisco: Google has introduced new features to its search engine — “Perspectives” and “About this author,” and has also expanded some existing tools, including “About this result.”
The “Opinions” feature will showcase insights from a range of journalists, experts and other relevant sources on the topics users are searching for.
The feature will be located under the “Top Stories” section.
“This feature will provide you with a variety of noteworthy voices on news topics, complementing the trusted reporting you already find on Search to help expand your understanding. This carousel will soon be available in English in the US, and will be available on desktop and mobile devices,” Google said in a blog post.
The “About This Author” feature will make it easy for users to learn more about the author behind the content they’re reading.
With this, they will be able to learn more about the backgrounds of authors whose work Google displays in search results.
The company said the feature will roll out in global English-language search results and in the U.S. English-language perspective carousel.
Additionally, the tech giant announced that it will now roll out its “About This Result” feature globally in all languages and in search in the coming days.
“Now, no matter where you search, you’ll see three dots next to most results on Google Search. Clicking on the three dots will let you learn more about where the information you see comes from and how we How our system determines what information it has useful for your query,” Google said.
Additionally, Google announced that it will make it easier for users to access its “About This Page” feature starting today.
“Starting today, you can enter the organization’s URL into Google Search and information from about this page will populate at the top of the search. You’ll be able to quickly see how the site describes itself and what others on the web are saying about it and any recent reports on it,” the company said.
This feature is now available worldwide in English.
