Union minister gives two different figures on Ayushman Bharat funding in response to two questions from BJP MP Laxman
Hyderabad: The Center seems less sure about Telangana funding with Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), if the answer to K Laxman, a member of the BJP’s own Rajya Sabha, is any indication.
Laxman raised two questions (3136 & 3137) concerning funds transferred under AB-PMJAY in the past five years and the state-level number of beneficiaries under the scheme. In response, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, in his written reply to Question No. 3137, said centers under AB-PMJAY had disbursed Rs 247.17 crore to Telangana out of the state’s treatment authorization of Rs 1984.53 crore rupee.
Interestingly, in reply to Laxman Question No. 3136 which is also related to AB-PMJAY, the Union Minister’s reply stated that the center has disbursed Rs. 236.45 crore to Telangana under AB-PMJAY with a treatment authorization of Rs. 2012 crore, Totally different numbers from the answer to the previous question. The figure for the number of hospital admissions authorized under the program in both responses was 709.497 billion.
Interestingly, Laxman had asked whether it was a fact that the funds disbursed under PMJAY were not being used properly by the Telangana government, and the union minister replied that in Telangana there had been a marked increase in utilization of the scheme.
