NTPC-Ramagundam sets record for first 100 MW floating solar plant in country

pedapari: National Thermal Power Company Limited (NTPC) Ramagundam, which has built 110 MW of solar power plants, including a 100 MW floating plant, has decided to build another 185 MW of solar power, of which 70 MW will be floating .

NTPC-Ramagundam set the record for the first 100 MW floating solar plant in the country. In addition to the 100 MW floating plant, the power specialist also has a 10 MW solar plant.

Announcing the news to the media on Friday, NTPC-Ramagundam executive director Sunil Kumar said that if the state government is ready, they are ready to build a floating power plant in the waters of the Yellampalli irrigation project. They also decided to use solar power to meet the needs of NTPC Township.

They also decided to burn three tons of waste generated by the Ramagondam Municipal Corporation every day to produce charcoal.

Charcoal will be used to generate electricity as an alternative to common coal, he said, adding that a plant is being built for the purpose and will be completed within a year.

Regarding the synchronization of the 2×800MW first unit (800MW) of the Telangana Super Thermal Power Project, he said that due to some technical issues, the process was not completed correctly and will be completed on May 15.

He pointed out that the state has huge demand for electricity and that NTPC is ready to start construction of the remaining 2,400 MW units if the state government enters into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with NTPC. This is part of the 4,000 MW thermal power project approved in Telangana as part of the AP Restructuring Act.
