Hyderabad: Defending world champion Nikhat Zareen clinched her back-to-back world titles by winning her second gold medal at the Women’s World Championships in New Delhi recently, at Film Nagar Culture in Hyderabad on Monday. A celebration was held at the center.
The Nizamabad boxer retained his world title in the 48-50kg category with a stellar performance and booked his qualification for the upcoming Asian Games. FNCC officials praised Nikhat’s achievements and said they were proud to have her as a member of the club. They hope that the Telangana boxer will continue to win more laurels for the country and country, as well as Olympic medals.

Speaking about the support the club and others have provided for her success, the boxer said she was delighted to be recognized for her achievements which will help her win more medals for her country.
“The lockdown period was tough. But then Mr. Chamundi (V Chamundeswaranath) helped us financially by giving Rs 2 lakh for training. He also brought Kakinada Port to sponsor us Rs 5 lakh for training. It has helped us a lot. I am confident that I will bring more medals to the country,” she said.
After congratulating Nikhat, Chamundeswaranath said he had provided cars to all Olympic medalists. “Sindhu has four cars. I promised Nikat that if she wins any medals in the Paris Olympics, I will give her a BMW. Film Nagar club is very supportive of sports. All famous athletes like PV Sindhu , Saina Nehwal, P Kashyap, Mithali Raj, Sania Mirza, Sikki Reddy and others have all been awarded free memberships of the club for their achievements,” he added.
