Warangal: Police have arrested three people in connection with the leak of Hindi SSC exam papers on Tuesday in an apparent attempt to tarnish the image of the state government, according to Warangal police.
Warangal Police Chief AV Ranganath also said that the incident cannot be called a leak of test papers as the test papers were shared in the WhatsApp group at around 9.59am and there was no way for the test-takers who delivered the test papers to the examination hall to access WhatsApp.
Ranganath told a news conference that one of the arrested 16-year-old boys climbed over the school fence and used his mobile phone to take pictures of the test papers of his friends who were taking the test. He then sent it to a Shiva Ganesh who had been arrested.
Ganesh then shared the photo in a local SSC WhatsApp group and sent it to a former journalist, Mahesh, who in turn sent it to a former news channel reporter, B Prashanth, now working for the BJP. Prasanth, who was also arrested, then sent the same question to BJP state chairman Bandi Sanjay and others in Hyderabad, in addition to creating a headline, announcing a “breaking news” and saying the exam paper was leaked and shared on WhatsApp. Share media in groups and on social media.
Ranganath said that since the exam papers came out long after the exam had started and the candidates had no access to any communication from the outside, it could not be called a leak, adding that the actions of others showed that it was a clear attempt to damage the image of the state government.
Prasanth, Shiva Ganesh and the underage boy were arrested, while Mahesh has not yet been arrested.
