Hyderabad: The Telangana CPI department has decided to stage a protest during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on April 8, as he failed to fulfill the promise he made to the people of Telangana at the time of the fork.
CPI state secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said in a statement on Thursday that his party will stage demonstrations with black badges and flags in front of all Ambedkar statues in the state to protest Modi’s visit to Hyderabad. He said Modi had no moral right to set foot in Telangana as his government had failed to fulfill any promises made to Telangana at the time of the fork.
Apart from granting state status to irrigation projects, the center failed to establish Bayyaram Steel Industries, Kazipet Railway Coach Works and Central Tribal University, he said. He strongly opposed the Center’s decision to auction off three coal mining blocks, saying that the Center had invited new bidders to privatize four coal mines – two in Sathupalli, Koyagudem and Mandamarri – which are important for Telangana’s power generation.
Modi, who inaugurated the Ramagundam fertilizer plant a few months ago, had tried to mislead people in his speech that Singareni would not be privatized, but shortly after the tender, it was enough to make it clear that every new Singareni mine would be privatized culture, he said.
