Hyderabad: The Telangana Government has amended the Telangana Shops and Enterprises Act 1988 and issued guidelines and conditions for commercial establishments and businesses to operate 24/7.
A Government Order (GO) was issued stipulating that the Telangana Government will exempt Section 7 of the Telangana Shop Establishment Act, 1988, which stipulates the hours and hours of operation, subject to certain conditions.
The conditions specified in the notification include the issuance of identity cards, provision of weekly rest, adherence to weekly working hours, payment of overtime wages, and paid compensatory leave for employees who work on the notified country/holiday.
In addition, adequate safety measures must be in place for female employees and their consent must be obtained to work night shifts. Transportation to and from the workplace must also be provided for female employees working the night shift.
The management of these agencies must keep records and provide returns in accordance with state regulations within a given time frame. Compliance with the provisions of current police laws and regulations is also mandatory.
According to the notification, under the Act, every store has to pay an annual fee of Rs 10,000 to be open 24×7.
