Hyderabad: A viral video showing Buddhist leader the Dalai Lama kissing a child on the lips before asking him to “suck his tongue” has caused a huge stir online, with many calling the act “disgusting”.
In the video, the monk can be seen placing a kiss on the boy’s lips as he leans over to pay homage to the spiritual leader. He was then seen sticking out his tongue for the child to suck on. “Can you suck my tongue?” he asked the little kid.
The clip was shared on Twitter. “Peda Dalai Lama kissed an Indian boy during a Buddhist event, even tried to touch his tongue, but the boy resisted. What a disgusting scene. The scene is clearly cut in the video posted by the ‘official’ network Already… like magic! (sic),” the caption read.

The video sparked angry reactions from several netizens. “This is disgusting, if he wasn’t the Dalai Lama, he would have been accused of child molestation? (sic),” read the comment. “What did I see? Is this the Dalai Lama? Needs to be arrested for pedophilia. Disgusting (sic),” tweeted another user.

In interviews, the controversial monk said that if his successor was a woman, she would have to be “attractive”. The comments sparked widespread outrage around the world, for which he later apologized.
