In a show of strength, Congress is pulling out all the stops to welcome Congress leader Rahul Gandhi with grandeur
UPDATE – Mon 4/10/23 10:02 AM

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, after being disqualified by the lower house, will visit his constituency Wayanad on Tuesday, where he will hold a roadshow.
Congress is doing its best to give him a lavish welcome as a show of strength.
Gandhi’s appeal against the conviction will be heard in a Surat court on April 13.
He was released on bail, which was extended by the Sessions Court of Gujarat. An appeal against his conviction in the case will be heard by the court on April 13.
On March 23, the Surat Lower Court ruled that he had defamed the entire Modi community in a case brought by BJP MLA Purnesh Modi. The former Congress president was subsequently disqualified from the Lok Sabha under a rule that bars convicted MPs from holding Lok Sabha membership.
Gandhi was sentenced to up to two years in prison for his crimes, but the sentence was suspended for 30 days to allow him to appeal the order. If the conviction is not overturned, he will be disqualified from running for the next eight years.
