Telangana governor passes three bills in Supreme Court hearing, says Harish Rao

Finance Minister T Harish Rao was speaking at a press conference in Mangolu, Kukunurupally Mandal, Siddipet district, on Monday.

Sidi Pete: Finance Minister T Harish Rao said Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan passed three long-pending bills only because a lawsuit brought by the Telangana government over the governor’s pending bills was heard in the Supreme Court on Monday.

Speaking to reporters after the trial operation of the 540 MLD water treatment plant in Mangolu Village, Kukunoorpally Mandal, the minister said the Governor also reserved two important bills, the Telangana University Common Recruitment Commission Bill and the Telangana Forestry University Bill, for the assent of the President. Questioning the operation of the governor, who left the bill pending in her office for more than seven months, Rao said it was delaying the state’s progress in many ways.

No governor has shelved the pending bill for more than three days in Telangana. Previous governors had repeatedly approved the bills overnight after cabinet sent them to the governor for approval. The minister said that the people of Telangana knew at whose request the Governor was delaying signing the bill and said that the people would definitely teach these people a proper lesson in due time.

Pointing out that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Center is polluting independent systems like the Governor-General by making them work for their own political interests, the Minister however thanked the Governor-General for approving the three bills and urged her to work with the Telangana government to approve all the bills as soon as possible for the benefit people. The minister said the delayed establishment of Forest University deprived the state’s youth of educational opportunities. Delaying the formation of common recruitment boards already set up in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and other states has also deprived young people of Telangana of job opportunities. The committee aims to conduct a common recruitment test to fill vacancies across all universities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said during his recent visit to Telangana that the Telangana government was not cooperating with the centre, Rao said. However, it was the BJP-led center that created obstacles in Telangana’s path. The center has never awarded any major project or any interest to the youngest state in the country. In addition, it withheld funds in addition to denying projects to Telangana for political gain. However, the state has a steadfast leader, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who leads Telangana with visionary decisions.

The minister said the center had replicated Mission Bhagiratha as Har Ghar Jal Yojana but refused to provide any funding despite Niti Aayog’s advice.

Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Zilla Parishad Chairman V Roja Sharma, MLC Dr V Yadava Reddy and others attended.
