Hyderabad: Saregama and Suniel Shetty’s show ‘Disco Dancer – The Musical’, directed by Rajiv Goswami, is creating a huge buzz even before its April 14 premiere as it recreates the magic of 80s Bollywood, especially The disco era is helmed by the late music legend Bappi Lahiri.
The musical’s cast and crew were moved and understandably emotional as the idol’s daughter, Rema Lahiri, and grandson, Rego B, watched rehearsals.
Rema said: “It’s hard to believe that my father is no longer around because his music follows me wherever I go. I was completely overwhelmed watching the rehearsal of ‘The Disco Dancer – The Musical’ because it was A perfect tribute to my father’s music. I hope he sees this production with us. On such a massive scale, no expense was spared in recreating the era when this film and its music made waves around the world.”
Her son and aspiring musician Rego B are equally captivated, saying: “As someone who wants to carry on the legacy my grandfather left, this show is a reminder of how iconic he was.
Create a score that people are still dancing to! Imagine the joy he brought to so many generations of music lovers! Now, this is something worth aspiring to do! I am grateful to Saregama for giving us the opportunity to see the rehearsal. It was really a very exciting experience for me and my mother. “
“Disco Dancers – The Musical” premieres April 14 and runs through April 23 at the NSCI Dome.
