Hyderabad: This meat looks, tastes and feels like meat, but is plant-based. Mock Meat, a vegan meat alternative for vegetarians, is quickly gaining acceptance in the city. A vegan diet consists only of plant foods, without any form of animal products, including meat and dairy. To ensure vegans don’t miss out on meat, cafes and restaurants in Hyderabad have introduced an alternative – vegetarian meat.
Ewoke Café is one such vegan cafe that serves European, Middle Eastern, Asian and Italian cuisine, as well as vegan desserts. They also have a store that specializes in plant-based products, plant-based protein, and vegetarian meat.

“Plant meat is an alternative to real meat. It’s plant-based and mimics the taste and texture of real animal meat,” says Mohan, owner of Ewoke Café in Sainikpuri. As technology has advanced, mock meats have come close to 80 to 90 percent of actual meat, keeping in mind their taste, texture and taste. “There are many brands launching different plant-based meats, including classic chicken nuggets, lamb kheema, sausage, pepperoni and meaty burger patties,” he adds.
This vegan meat can be made from soy, wheat isolate, jackfruit, banana peel, and watermelon with the right processing and techniques for a meat-like texture and taste.
People have been chasing the vegan trend to prevent the exploitation of animals. “Vegan meat is good for the planet because the livestock industry is the biggest contributor to climate change,” Mohan added, “and it’s good for human health because it has zero cholesterol.”
Plant-based meat is a great option for people looking to reduce their meat consumption for health, environmental or even ethical reasons.
