Hyderabad: Sunscreen or an umbrella? This happens to be Hyderabadis’ predicament, as the weather has continued to play a rather puzzling game over the past few days. The sun burned brightly there, and soon the clouds closed and it began to rain.
Even the weather forecast is a bit confusing at times.
The India Meteorological Department – Hyderabad (IMD-H) issued a yellow alert for the city on Saturday and Sunday, warning that temperatures could reach as high as 40 degrees Celsius. But oddly, the IMD-H also issued a yellow alert for rain!
This left Hyderabadis wondering what to expect. Should they pull out their sunscreen to protect themselves from the scorching sun or reach for an umbrella for shelter from the rain. However, it seems like both may be necessary.
Even more interesting, the IMD-H issued an orange alert on April 17-18, warning that temperatures could soar to 41°C to 45°C.
But at the same time, the meteorological department is also forecasting that thunder and lightning may occur during this time. Certainly not your typical weather forecast.
Hyderabadians are no strangers to hot weather, but this bizarre combination of extreme heat and rainfall has left many baffled. Some even called it “strange weather”. Experts attribute the unusual weather pattern to interference from the west.
Meanwhile, almost all parts of the state are likely to experience extreme heat over the next three days. Adilabad, Nirmal, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Jagtial and Nizamabad will see sporadic rainfall by April 17, according to the Telangana Development Planning Association.
