Mumbai: Actor Sonakshi Sinha’s digital debut, “Dahaad,” will premiere on Prime Video on May 12, the streamer announced Thursday.
The crime drama is directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi and also stars Vijay Verma, Gulshan Devaiah and Sohum Shah, according to a Prime Video press release.
The eight-part series, created by Kagti and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, had its world premiere at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival in February.
Sinha plays the role of Deputy Inspector Anjali Bhaati (Sinha) as she, along with her colleagues, tries to solve a horrific murder where an unsuspecting criminal is on the loose.
“It all starts with a series of mysterious deaths of women in public bathrooms, with Deputy Inspector Anjali Bhaati leading the investigation. At first, the deaths appear to be clear suicides, but as the case unfolds, Anjali begins to suspect a serial killer is at large.
“What ensues is an enthralling game of cat and mouse as a seasoned criminal and an underdog cop take another innocent woman to life before she can piece together the evidence,” according to the official plot.
“Dahaad” is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby.
