Karim Nagar: Strong winds and light showers disrupted normal life in parts of the former Karimnagar region late Thursday night.
Power poles were uprooted and toppled onto roads, and paddy and mango crops were damaged by strong winds. The Korutla and Metpalli districts of the Jagtial district are heavily influenced.
Traffic on the Jagtial and Nizamabad highways came to a standstill as power poles were uprooted and toppled onto roads in various places. Transco personnel removed the poles and restored traffic.
On the other hand, mango crops ready for harvest were also damaged by strong winds.
In this regard, the mango farmers who suffered heavy losses due to pests and hail last month are really anxious. Jagtial is a big market for mangoes as there are 35,000 acres of mangoes grown in the area.
