New Delhi: A woman in her 40s was shot at the Saket court complex in Delhi on Friday morning, with police sources saying the attacker, who was wearing a lawyer’s attire, had been identified.
The injured woman was identified as M. Radha and she is currently in a stable condition.
According to sources, the defendant has been identified as Kameshwar Singh, a suspended lawyer.
According to police, the incident happened around 10:30 a.m.
“She was shot in two places in the abdomen and one in the hand, and she was taken to Max Saket Hospital. She is in a stable condition,” said Police Deputy Commissioner (South) Chandan Chowdhary.
“The defendant has been identified. He was even disbarred from the bar. The defendant has a cheating case against the victim and the hearing is scheduled for today in the Saket court,” the DCP said.
According to witness Ranjeet Singh Dalal, a total of 4-5 rounds were fired and the accused fled through the back door of the court canteen.
“A police team has been formed to apprehend the accused and further investigations are ongoing,” the DCP said.
Security checks were again called into question after the man entered the courtroom armed with a weapon despite metal detectors and a body search by security officials.
