With this initiative, EV&DM plans to perform rescue operations in wartime
Hyderabad: Four advanced and well-equipped mobile control rooms will soon join GHMC’s Law Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management (EV&DM) fleet and be used in the event of fire incidents, floods, building collapses and more.
These mobile control rooms will be set up on trucks equipped with cameras and will be equipped with screens, Wifi, an interagency communication network, drones and advanced machinery for rescue operations.
In the event of a disaster, the vehicle will be rushed to the scene and use drones to capture visuals and display them on screens in the mobile control room.
With this initiative, EV&DM plans to perform rescue operations in wartime. Another key feature of these vehicles is an interdepartmental communication network to better coordinate state departments, especially those involved in rescue operations.
In an emergency, officers from various departments, including the police, equipped with their own very high frequency (VHF) equipment, will be in the mobile control room being rushed to the scene.
Rescue operations will be coordinated and executed by officers stationed including Telangana State Disaster Response and Fire Services (TSDRFS), Police (Law & Order and Traffic) and GHMC’s Disaster Response Force (DRF). A GHMC official said the coordination would be a game-changer for rescue operations and saving precious lives. “The mobile control room will update the Disaster Response Force (DRF) about the search operation, and the traffic police can keep track of the movements of the ambulances going there,” he said.
The vehicles will be equipped with the latest equipment needed to respond to emergencies and include advanced machinery to lift huge sections of slabs in the event of a building collapse. GHMC happens to be the first municipal agency in the country to have a dedicated disaster response force, and will also be the first to deploy a mobile control room.
EV&DM, the brainchild of KT Rama Rao, Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) and his department, DRF, has been working to provide valuable rescue operations in Hyderabad, especially during heavy rains and other unfortunate events.
