New Delhi: Wrestlers continued their protest against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and its president, Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, by holding a candlelight march at the Jantar Mantar Observatory in the capital on Wednesday.

Vinesh Phoghat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshee Malik participated in the candle procession.

Talking to the media, Sakshee said, “We are urging Prime Minister Modi to listen to our Mankibat. Even Smriti Irani ji is not listening to us. We are trying to show them light through this candle procession,” Sakshee said. Speaking to the media.

The FIR was not filed after the wrestler filed a complaint against WFI and its chief on Friday, the wrestler said.

“We trust the Supreme Court to do justice for us,” Sakhi said.

Delhi Police filed an application in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, saying a preliminary investigation is required before filing an FIR against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh over sexual harassment allegations.

Deputy Attorney-General Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of Delhi Police, has lodged with the Supreme Court that an FIR is required before filing an FIR against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh over sexual harassment allegations. Preliminary investigation.

Delhi Police told the court that they believed there were some issues that required a preliminary investigation. However, Delhi Police clarified that they would not hesitate to file the FIR immediately if ordered by the court.

The bench, headed by India’s Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, said a hearing on the matter was scheduled for Friday and the bench would review the full range of materials.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the Delhi Police asking the wrestlers to request an urgent hearing on a petition against WFI president Brij Bhushan to register with the FIR.

The court noted that the wrestler representing India had made serious allegations in the petition.

“Complaints filed in sealed form shall be resealed again and placed under petition,” the court said. The court also clarified that for the purposes of this petition, the identity of the petitioner should be withheld.

The court gave its direction when senior defense counsel Kapil Sibal referred to the wrestler’s request for an urgent hearing on a petition to register FIR against WFI president Brij Bhushan.

Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal has informed SC that these are female wrestlers, including a minor, and the minor girl is the gold medalist.

Wrestlers have filed a plea in the Supreme Court for FIR registration against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Senior Advocate Sibal and Senior Advocate Narendra Hooda represented the petitioners in this matter.

Vinesh Phogat and seven other wrestlers have urged the Supreme Court to issue a direction to Delhi Police to file an FIR against Brij Bhushan for taking too long to do so.

Back in January, WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was accused of sexual misconduct and intimidation by the wrestler. The government established a five-member oversight committee to oversee WFI’s operations. Boxer Mary Comb heads the oversight committee formed to investigate allegations against WFI and its chief Singh and other coaches.

On Tuesday, Delhi Police sought a report from the investigative committee set up by the Union Sports Ministry to look into the allegations and had started looking into fresh complaints from the wrestlers.

In January, following protests by some of the country’s prominent wrestlers, the league’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the formation of an “oversight committee” to investigate allegations against WFI, its head Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and other coaches.

The commission is tasked with submitting a report on the issue to the Ministry.
