The CID of Andhra Pradesh Police arrested former Telugu Desan MLC Adireddy Appa Rao and his son on Sunday.
Amaravati: The CID of the Andhra Pradesh Police on Sunday arrested former Telugu Desan Party (TDP) MLC Adireddy Appa Rao and his son along with TDP state executive secretary Adireddy Srinivasa Rao in their case involving financial irregularities by a fund company. .
CID detectives arrested the father and son from their residence in Rajamahendravaram and transferred them to the CID office. Appa Rao is the husband of TDP Rajahmundry MLA Adireddy Bhavani and their son Srinivasa Rao is said to be a director of Jagajjanani Chit Funds Private Ltd.
The main opposition party condemned the arrests. Several party leaders and workers arrived at the party office in Rajamahendravaram and protested against the arrests.
Meanwhile, TDP country chairman and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu spoke to Bhavani over the phone and expressed his solidarity with her.
Naidu said political harassment and vendettas by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government are on the rise. He lamented that nothing had changed in the behavior of the ruling party.
The TDP chairman said the YSRCP government only believed in illegal cases and illegal arrests. He said the arrest of Appa Rao and Srinivasa Rao was another example of the YSRCP government’s vendetta politics.
Naidu claimed that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did not want anyone to do business in the state. “Is the CID a government investigative agency or a YSRCP threat agency,” he asked
The TDP chief said the Jagan government had not reformed despite repeated condemnations by the courts.
