New Delhi: In a shocking incident, an SUV was found driven about two to three kilometers with a man clutching the hood, police said on Monday.
The incident happened around 11pm when the car was traveling from Ashram Chowk to Nizamuddin Dargah. The victim, Chetan (30 years old), a resident of Govindpuri, was not injured.

According to the police, a police team was called to the scene after a PCR call was received at 12.12am stating that there had been an accident in Ashram Chowk. “At the scene, the caller Chetan told the police that he was driving his taxi which was slightly hit by an SUV Discovery in Ashram Chowk,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Rajesh Deo.
When Chetan stopped the SUV, the driver, identified as Ramachal, 35, and a resident of Bihar’s Dumri district, tried to flee the scene. However, Ramachal still managed to drive the SUV to Nizamuddin police station with Chetan still on the hood. Eventually, a PCR van stopped the SUV and Chetan got out,” Deo said.
“According to Chetan’s complaint, a case is being registered against the SUV driver under Sections 279 (reckless driving) and 336 (doing any act endangering the person or the safety of the person of another) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC),” the official of.
According to sources, the car was registered in the name of Congressman Veena Devi, but the car was owned by Congressman Chandan Singh at his residence in Delhi.
“Yesterday (Sunday), Congressman Chandan Singh was in Delhi. After departing from Delhi to Bihar, his driver was driving an SUV when an accident occurred. After the accident, Delhi Police contacted the Congressman and the Congressman confirmed that the driver are his employees,” the source said.
MP Singh announced the immediate dismissal of his driver.
