Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) demolished three houses, five basements and utility poles in Jawahar Nagar on Tuesday. Among the various survey figures in Jawahar Nagar, it was found that these encroachments took place on HMDA land, which was over 3,000 square yards.
HMDA’s Estate Wing worked with police to demolish illegal structures using heavy machinery. Officers also identified the assailant and lodged a complaint with the Jawaharnagar Police Station. In a press release, HMDA said the intruder had been registered with the FIR.
The structures were demolished as part of HMDA’s ongoing campaign to remove all encroachment within its jurisdiction. HMDA had earlier asked those encroaching on its land to voluntarily vacate it, warning that, in addition to demolishing the entire structure, a complaint would be registered with the police.
Most recently, in mid-April, a commercial establishment being built on HMDA land in Trappal City and six villas under construction near Ibrahim Cheruvu were bulldozed.
“The notification to stop construction activity followed by demolition will continue and the Estate Wing is inspecting the place to check for encroachment,” an HMDA official said.
