Hyderabad: To coincide with International Respect for Chickens Day on May 4, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has launched a campaign for college students.
As college campuses in India and around the world debate whether or not to consent, PETA has set up bulletin boards outside colleges and universities across the country in an attempt to demonstrate that chickens do not consent to the use and abuse of their bodies for meat and eggs.
“Each year, the egg industry puts billions of chickens in cages too small to spread their wings and slaughters them. PETA India message reminds students that if consent is important to them, they must become vegetarian , because animals do not consent to being caged and killed,” said Puja Mahajan, director of education and youth outreach at PETA India.
In Hyderabad, PETA India’s print campaign is located opposite the Gachibowli Stadium. Universities and colleges in Amritsar, Delhi and Goa put up similar campaign posters.
