Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for showing special interest in completing the Udaya Samudram pumping irrigation scheme.
Nalgonda: The motor test run for the Udaya Samudram Upgrading Irrigation Scheme (Brahmana Vellemla) conducted by the Irrigation Department was successfully held here.
Engineers turned on the motor control panel at the Chouwampally pump house at the Narketpally mandal and pumped water through the motor into the reservoir at Brahmana Vellemla. Farmers in the region are happy because of the successful trial run of the motors as the decks are cleared to provide irrigation water for 100,000 acres of Narketpally, Nalgonda and Kattangur mandals. It also aims to provide drinking water to 107 villages in the region.
Once operational, the project is expected to draw 6.70 TMC of water from the foreshore of the Udaya Samudram reservoir.
In his speech, Nakrekal MLA Chirumarthi Lingaiah thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for showing special interest in completing the Udaya Samudram water lifting irrigation scheme. He said irrigation facilities will soon be made available to farmers through the water pumping irrigation scheme.
