Nizamabad: Animal husbandry officials announced that no cattle have died in the area due to the agglomerative skin disease. The lumpy skin disease is endemic in about nine regions, affecting about 65 cattle so far.
About 30,000 cattle in the Nizamabad region have been vaccinated against the disease, according to a press release issued by district veterinarians and livestock officials on Tuesday. As many as 57 teams have been set up in the region to vaccinate cattle, he said.
A vaccination programme is being carried out in all Mandals in the region to check the spread of the disease. Additionally, all infected cattle have been cured and precautions are being taken to check for the spread of the disease.
The official clarified that there is no need to panic, as lumpy skin is a non-zoonotic disease and cannot be transmitted to humans. So far, about 7,752 cattle in the state have contracted the disease, 25 of whom have died from the virus since the August outbreak.
