Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Telangana State Police investigating leaked test papers of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has arrested two other accused.
Bhagwant and his brother Ravi Kumar, who work at the Office of the Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) in Vikarabad, have been arrested by SIT.
During the investigation, officers discovered that Bhagwant had purchased papers for the Assistant Engineer (AE) exam for his brother Ravi Kumar from one of the defendants, Dhakya Nayak.
Bahgwant transferred Rs 2 lakh in Dhakya Nayak’s account for the exam paper.
With the arrest of two more defendants, the total number of arrests in the case so far has increased to 21.
Dhakya, the husband of Renuka, a teacher, obtained the test papers from an employee of the TSPSC, the principal defendant, Praveen Kumar. She bought the papers for her older brother Rajeshwar Nayak who was taking the AE exam. Together with Dhakya she sold the test papers to other people.
The TSPSC scam came to light on March 12, resulting in the cancellation of Group 1 Preliminary, Associate Engineer, AEE and DAO exams.
Praveen, an assistant departmental officer at TSPSC, and Rajashekar Reddy, a network administrator at TSPSC, allegedly stole some exam papers from computers in the committee’s classified department and sold them to the other defendants.
Exam leaks caused a stir in Telangana state as the opposition Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party accused the BRS government of responsibility for leaks affecting hundreds of thousands of unemployed people in the state.
SIT also inspected TSPS Chairman Janardhan Reddy, Secretary Anita Ramchandran and member B. Linga Reddy.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating allegations of money laundering in the case.
The SIT has reportedly identified the total financial transactions in the case at Rs 3.34 lakh.
