Hyderabad: Age is definitely not a barrier to educational pursuits. Some people sincerely believe this and don’t allow age to hinder their pursuit of learning.

This year, the Telangana Common Entrance Examination for Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine (TS Eamcet) will see a 56-year-old candidate compete against teenagers to crack the entrance exam.

Because there is no upper age limit for undergraduate engineering and pharmacy programs in the state, a 56-year-old man, whose name was withheld to protect privacy, has applied to take the exam.

He is not alone in his quest to provide tough competition for younger candidates, as there are three other candidates over the age of 35 who have signed up for TS Eamcet.

This year, the number of applicants for the entrance examination hit a record high, with a total of 3,20,384 students applying. Compared to last year, the number of applications increased by 53,670.

Of all applications, 2,05,031 were for Engineering, 1,14,981 were for AM, and 372 were for both Engineering and AM streams. Entrance exams for the AM stream will take place on May 10 and 11, and engineering exams on May 12, 13 and 14. Two entrance exams will be held twice a day, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

A total of 113 additive manufacturing centers and 137 engineering test centers have been established, including 104 in Telangana and 33 in Andhra Pradesh. Hall tickets are already available on the website https://eamcet.tsche.ac.in/ and can be downloaded.
