Srinagar: A Lashkar Lashkar (LeT) militant was killed in clashes with security forces in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir state on Saturday, police said.
Police launched a cordon and search operation after receiving information about the presence of militants in the Karhama Kunzer area of Baramulla, a police official said.
It turned into an skirmish after militants opened fire on retaliating troops.
One militant was killed in the exchange of fire, the official said.
“The terrorist who was killed was identified as Abid Wani, a resident of Yarhol Babapora, Kulgam, with links to the banned terrorist organization LeT. Criminal material, an AK-47 rifle recovered,” Kashmir Regional Police said in a tweet .
