San Francisco: Meta-owned WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new “Channel List” feature on iOS, a new one-to-many tool for broadcasting messages from people you want to get news from.
According to WABetaInfo, new features will be listed in the Status tab, now called “Updates,” which displays status updates and channels.
In particular, status updates will always be displayed horizontally to give more room to the channel list.
Channels will instead appear in the section listing status updates, the report said.
Additionally, the company will give users complete control over the channels they follow, and when they do, the behavior will be kept private.
Additionally, the report mentions that channels will support controllers, allowing users to easily search and access preferred updates.
Reports say the channel list feature is in the works and will be released in a future update of the app.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has announced two new updates on its platform around Polls and Share with Captions to make chats more fun and productive.
In the polls feature, the company rolled out three options — create single-vote polls, search for polls in your chat, and update poll results on the fly, and at the same time, the company rolled out a “share with captions” feature, now Users can use this feature to repost media with subtitles.
