Angels: Actress Priyanka Chopra has said she doesn’t focus on her man’s past because of his previous high-profile affairs with the likes of Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Olivia Culpo love affair. She appeared on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, where she told host Alex Cooper: “I don’t care who he dates.”
“We’re talking about the future… I always say this – I don’t read my book backwards. I’m sure you’ll move forward through the chapters,” reports femalefirst.co.uk.
The couple began dating in May 2018 — two months before he proposed and seven months before they married — but when they first entered each other’s lives, Priyanka was hesitant. “I didn’t even date Nick at that point because I just thought, ‘I need to know why I keep repeating my mistakes,'” she said. “And repeating mistakes always makes me feel like I need to be the janitor.”
“I always feel like I can cancel my work, my work, or my meetings, or that my priority is to make sure he’s supported… I’m starting to feel like I’m being ignored in my relationships. (But) my husband Made me feel welcome. So heard.
The “Sucker” hitmaker took the first step by sneaking into his future wife’s DMs with a very direct message. She recalls: “Literally, he was like, ‘Someone told me we should meet.’ How aggressive? So sexy.”
After she saw the music video for his track “Close” on Google, she decided to give him a chance. “[I thought]’That body is at least worth a date,'” she said. Every time he sang that song for me on stage, my knees went limp…I saw that video and I had to love it Windows or something.”
Priyanka Chopra hit back with a cheeky message of her own, teasing: “My response to him was, ‘Why don’t you text me? My team can see my DMs.'”
Five years later, Priyanka explained that his support for her helped keep their relationship strong. “He’s most excited about the show I’m doing, you know, when I’m on the carpet,” she said. “He’ll step back and then he’ll take some decent pictures of me. That’s you Wanted. You want your man to be your champion.”
