New Delhi: On Saturday, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi thanked the people of Karnataka for the party’s expected victory, saying “the market for hate is closed and the shop for love is open”.
He also said that the power of crony capitalism had been defeated by the power of the poor.
“Thank you to the people of Karnataka, our party leaders and all the hard-working party members,” Gandhi told the media at the party headquarters here.
“In the elections in Karnataka, crony capitalism on the one hand and the power of the poor on the other hand defeated the strong,” he said.
He further stated that Congress stands with the poor and “we fight for their problems”.
“We’re not fighting for hate, we’re fighting for love. We’re fighting people and this state has shown that love can win,” he said, adding that this will be repeated in other states as well.
“In Karnataka, the shops of hate are closed and the shops of love are open. This is a victory for the people of Karnataka. We made five promises which we will deliver in our first cabinet meeting, ’ he added.
Congress will form a government in the southern states.
The party headquarters here witnessed a festive atmosphere as workers burst firecrackers, danced to Bangla tunes and handed out sweets.
