Calcutta: A West Bengal man was forced to wrap his five-month-old son in a bag on a bus from Siliguri (Darjeeling district) to Kaliaganj (Northern district) after he could not afford exorbitant ambulance bills. Najpur district), the total journey is about 200 km.

The journey of Buzkashi, the ultimate human being, started from the bus station in Siliguri on Saturday night and ended in Kaliaganj on Sunday afternoon, with the father himself recounting his harrowing journey with the dead body of his son.

As the sad father of Asim Debshrama, a resident of Dangjpara village in the North Dinajpur district of West Bengal state, said with grief, his wife gave birth to twin sons.

On 7 May, the two sick sons were taken to Raiganj Government Medical College and Hospital, North Dinajpur District.

As their health conditions did not improve, both were referred to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) in Siliguri, Darjeeling district.

On May 10, as one of the two sons improved, he was discharged from the hospital and was taken back to his ancestral home in Kaliaganj by his mother and Asim’s wife.

However, as the second son’s condition continues to be unstable, he remains hospitalized at NBMCH while his father Asim remains in a hospital near him.

Late on Saturday night, the helpless father called the ambulance service to take his son’s body back to his home in Kaliaganj after his sick son died late on Saturday night. The government ambulance service provider, which is supposed to provide free service, refused to play the role of hearse carrier unless Rs 8,000 was paid.

Desperate to take his son’s body back to his ancestral land, the distraught father packed the body of his five-month-old son in a bag with the help of a local agent and brought the bag from Siligurideng Boarded a bus bound for Kaliganji.

Upon returning home on Sunday, Asim broke down and spoke to local media about the entire incident.
